From Place to Place

Raif, Mandy, Codie and Kirsten

Raif, Mandy, Codie and Kirsten are some of the emancipated youth who tell their stories in "From Place to Place".

U.S. Senate Caucus on Foster Care

Youth featured in From Place to Place traveled to Washington D.C. to testify before the U.S. Senate Caucus on Foster Care, which then issued a Call to Action for comprehensive reform of America’s foster care system. This film reminds us that when foster youth tell their stories to powerful policymakers and to all of us, they can become catalysts for changes that benefit all foster youth.

The National Foster Youth Action Network is proud to support the development and distribution of From Place to Place, a powerful new documentary about youth transitioning from care in Montana.
The experiences mirror the struggles of transitioning youth across America. Their decision to raise their voices and advocate for reform will inspire you.

Raif, Mandy, Codie, Ralyn, Micah and Kirsten: thank you for sharing your profoundly important stories in From Place to Place.  Your experiences and insights tell the world something we know all too well:  we, as a country, as a society have failed to meet your needs and the needs of nearly 500,000 other children and youth in foster care all across this nation.  A national tragedy has unfolded where we have seen thousands of young people struggle and achieve poor outcomes through no fault of their own.  Public awareness and understanding must increase, and policies must change. None of us can rest until foster youth have the same opportunities for success and joy as everyone else.  You are our children.  From Place To Place is an important work that documents the essence of listening to youth and heeding their call for change.  We can and must do better.”
- Janet Knipe, Executive Director, National Foster Youth Action Network
