Janet Knipe and Philip Bailey
National and international singer/ musician Philip Bailey of the legendary musical group, Earth, Wind & Fire has forged a partnership with the National Foster Youth Action Network to be our national spokesperson. “I am very excited and deeply moved that Mr. Bailey has decided to lend his celebrity to raising awareness of the challenges that foster youth face, especially as they exit care. This is a group of young people who need champions. Having Mr. Bailey in their corner is a wonderful gift,” said Action Network Executive Director, Janet Knipe. The Action Network is thrilled to be working with Mr. Bailey and eager to collaborate with him to educate the public about foster youth issues and motivate them to be involved. Thank you, Mr. Bailey.
Mr. Bailey is also launching a new foundation, Music Is Unity. Music Is Unity is dedicated to raising awareness of the needs of emancipated foster care youth, as well as capital to support organizations that are providing a safety net for youth as they exit care. Music Is Unity will use its influence to invite other celebrities, clergy, and politicians to become involved.
I believe when foster youth come into the system, we all have a responsibility to ensure that they have quality lives and have the same opportunities that we want for our own children. Foster youth are struggling. We can all take action to help.”
