Description: SaySo, Strong Able Youth Speaking Out, is a statewide association of youth aged 14 to 24 who are or have been in the out-of-home care system that is based in North Carolina. This includes all types of substitute care, including foster care, group homes, and mental health placements.
Founded in 1998 by a stakeholder group of older youths in care, adult caregivers, and adult professionals, SaySo has been recognized with respect in North Carolina and nationally as a youth-driven advocacy organiz
ation. Our founding members felt youths needed to be more involved in advocating and policy development for young people in substitute care. For a more complete history, see SaySo History .
