The Leaders United team wants to give FYA partner groups a chance to shine! We’d love for you to propose a workshop or discussion session that you and your group could lead at the conference! Check out last year’s agenda to see what was covered.

We are seeking session ideas in the following areas:

Leadership Skills: Has your group been recognized for actively building leadership skills for teens in your state? Are you an expert at teaching fellow youth how to facilitate meetings, make decisions, and practice public speaking?

Lessons in Organizing and Advocacy: Do you have a great example of a policy campaign we could learn more about? Want to share more about how your group figures out which policy issues it wants to work on? Are you really good at recruiting youth members and training others to do so?

Issues and Subjects: Is your group an expert on issues like sex trafficking, healing from trauma, group homes, the foster care to prison pipeline, or other subjects that impact foster youth?

Community Building and Creative Expression: Does your group have some great activities that build community that others should know about? Do you have a workshop idea that allows youth to tap into their artistic side? Want to share an activity to promote healing and wellness?

Workshop and Break-Out Expectations:

  • Workshops should be 1 hour long, and planners should expect 15-35 people to attend

  • Whether formal or more discussion-based, all workshops should be interactive to keep all participants engaged

  • Workshops can be youth-led or jointly led by youth and adult staff

We will be accepting workshop applications through September 8th, 2017. Submit yours today!
